Description

General: From NE Asia, this "white" birch can reach 100'. Rare to find in cultivation.

Leaves: 3" ovate, doubly serrated dark green turning to a pale yellow in fall.

Bark: Creamy white with brown underside. Papery and flaking.

Culture

Growing Conditions: Prefers partial shade although does quite well in a sunny location. Moist, sandy soil is best.

Maintenance: Virtually maintenance free, unless the flaking bark bothers you.

Transplanting: B&B in spring only.

We love this birch! Seems to be resistant to bronze birch borer and japanese beetles don't bother them.
